Hafa Adai! As part of my commitment to continue to share cultural poems relating to our beautiful island of Guam and its people, here’s Korasón Poem #55 titled Carving. Enjoy!

Carving

Carving is a special art that one must be trained in
For it’s not easy to carve a coconut or a tool
Especially when dealing with sharp objects.

Carving a galaidé* is also no easy task
But the master carver knows
How to skillfully build it
Despite the difficulty.

Carving is indeed an art I appreciate
And one that is extraordinary
With the wondrous pieces one can create.
